IS militant arrested on Azerbaijani-Georgian border

PanARMENIAN.Net - A resident of Shahseven village of Azerbaijan's Beylagan region, was arrested at the frontier post near the village of Uzungazmalar of Azerbaijani Zagatala region on October 15, while attempting to illegally cross the state border with Georgia, APA news agency reports.

The investigation revealed that Shirinov Babak Parviz oglu (born in 1990), who had previously fought with the militant group Islamic State in Syria, aimed to cross the border with Georgia, get to Turkey from there and eventually reach Syria to join the IS once more.

As a result of investigative operations, a resident of the village of Aliabad of Zagatala region, Shamkhalov Afgan Niazi oglu was arrested for aiding and abetting Shirinov.
