Azerbaijan shells Armenian border villages, no casualties reportedNovember 6, 2015 - 12:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani army shelled the villages of Voskevan and Baghanis of Armenia’s Tavush Province on Thursday, November 5. Armenian armed forces took retaliatory measures to silence the attacks, a Defense Ministry representative told PanARMENIAN.Net The Ministry refuted reports of Azerbaijan having pushed forward military equipment. Also, on the same day, Azerbaijani armed forces shelled a truck on an interstate highway near Baghanis. According to the village chief Narek Sahakyan, the engine and wheels of the truck were damaged; the Ossetian truck driver, however, was unharmed. According to the NKR Defense Ministry, 100 ceasefire violations by Azerbaijani armed forces were registered on the night of November5-6, with over 1800 shots fired from various caliber artillery weapons, as well as 60-mm mortars (1 shell). The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army.
