Spielberg‘s Cold War thriller had been planning a Sunday premiere. “In light of the tragedy in Paris, we have canceled our scheduled film events,” Fox said in a statement. While Disney had domestic rights to the film, Fox was releasing it in Europe and had organized a premiere event in Berlin on Friday night. In addition, Vivendi-owned Mars Films scuttled a Monday night premiere of Portman‘s Western “Jane Got a Gun” in the wake of the attacks. The distributor also canceled a Sunday press junket and Portman’s scheduled TV appearances. The Weinstein Company plans a February release of the film in the U.S. after acquiring the indie last summer as its original domestic distributor, Relativity Media, filed for bankruptcy. In addition, several cinema chains shut down early on Saturday afternoon in Paris in response to the terrorist attacks on Friday. At least 128 people were killed and 180 more wounded in the coordinated assaults, according to Paris Police Prefecture. Gaumont-Pathe, UGC and MK2 are some of the cinemas that have decided to shut down early on Saturday afternoon. They originally intended to stay open for the day and had morning showings at 11 a.m. before deciding to shutter.
