“The Crow” cult classic remake set to shoot in 2016November 21, 2015 - 16:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - “The Crow” is all set to shoot in 2016, according to producer Edward Pressman, despite the financial woes of Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity, Variety reports. The Relativity Studios-backed project lost its star Jack Huston (“Boardwark Empire”) in June and a month later in July, Relativity filed for bankruptcy. “Despite Relativity’s problems, we’re going ahead now,” veteran producer Ed Pressman told Variety in Goa, India. Pressman’s latest film “The Man Who Knew Infinity” is opening the 46th International Film Festival of India. “Relativity is putting up a good amount of money to do that. They are putting up significant holding money. They are moving ahead in a constructive and positive way and Ryan Kavanaugh seems totally committed to this theme.” Edgar Wright introduced director Corin Hardy (“The Hallow”) to the project, says Pressman, who believes that “The Crow” has the same kind of franchise potential as “The Hunger Games” series. Pressman is currently putting together a holding deal for Hardy. “Corin and I are discussing as we speak who to go to, to play The Crow. We’ll find The Crow and shoot it in the first half of next year,” says Pressman. The previous 1994 film was directed by Alex Proyas and starred Brandon Lee in his final movie role. Based on James O’ Barr’s neo-noir comic book novel first published in 1989, the film was a $50.7 million hit in North American and became a cult classic.
