Foo Fighters release new EP “Saint Cecilia” on Spotify (video) November 30, 2015 - 17:43 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Foo Fighters have uploaded their new free surprise EP Saint Cecilia to Spotify. The EP was released in memory of the 130 victims of the Paris terrorist attacks. The five track EP was intended to be released at the end of the band's world tour, but the band cancelled it after the death of over 100 Eagles of Death Metal fans at the Bataclan, Gigwise reports. Writing about the sorrow he is experiencing following the attacks, Grohl said he intends the EP to bring a glimmer of light in a dark time. In a letter announcing the EP, he wrote: "Even in the smallest way, perhaps these songs can bring a little light into this sometimes dark world. To remind us that music is life, and that hope and healing go hand in hand with song. That much can never be taken away." The EP comes after eight solid studio albums by the band, including the classic Colour and The Shape, and the most recent Sonic Highways, which the band made an incredible documentary about. Each track on the album was written in and recorded in a different city as they detailed the musical history of the U.S.A. The album included a collaboration with one of Dave Grohl’s biggest songwriting influences, Paul McCartney. “This new EP is a solid follow up and the production sounds as huge as any Foo Fighters album in recent memory. Whilst the songs themselves mostly evokes Foo Fighters’ influence from DIschord records bands like Bad Brains. There's a real feral energy and powerful guitar and drum sound that's going to ignite mosh pits all over the world when they bring these songs to the stage,” Gigwise reports.
