Twitter stops cropping timeline images for “rich media”December 8, 2015 - 12:02 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Twitter has changed the way it displays images on Twitter.com timelines, so that they now appear uncropped, VentureBeat reports. Previously, photos and pictures have been chopped off at the top and bottom — until clicked on — unless they already matched a specific landscape-oriented aspect ratio. Along with the more revealing previews, multi-image tweets have also gotten a refresh, such that the thumbnail tiles are now displayed in varying sizes within the preview box, which is also larger. Until now, the thumbnails being shown were of a uniform size. Twitter chalks up the change to the fact that, while Twitter was initially a text-only medium, “rich media has become essential to the experience.” The changes are starting to appear on Twitter.com now, but the company didn’t share when its apps may get a similar update.
