U.S. calls for probe into Armenia referendum irregularities![]() December 8, 2015 - 17:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The U.S. Embassy in Armenia issued a statement, hailing the Armenian people and the government for the peaceful process of the December 6 constitutional referendum. “The upcoming change in the system of Armenia’s government is significant. The credible allegations of electoral irregularities reported by both non-partisan observers as well as Armenian political parties are of concern, however, and need to be fully investigated to ensure that the Armenian people can see the outcome of the referendum as credible and legitimate,” the Embassy said, urging the Central Electoral Commission and the government to probe all reports of irregularities. “These issues must be addressed now and following the adoption of a new electoral code, taking into account OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, to ensure that future elections are viewed by the Armenian people as credible, legitimate, and true reflection of their will,” the Embassy went on to say. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
