Karabakh conflict can’t be solved with self-defense alone: military official

PanARMENIAN.Net - Major General, hero of the Artsakh Liberation Struggle Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan believes that the Armenian side should not wait for Azerbaijan’s provocations to defend itself, Tert.am reports.

“The Defense Ministry’s moves differ greatly from our previous path,” Ter-Tadevosyan said. “Formerly we waited for the attacks to start the self-defense, now we take preventive steps.”

He noted that as a serviceman he hails the Armenian side’s moves, but understands as a civilian that the Azerbaijani provocations claim innocent lives.

“We, of course, retaliate and never initiate attacks, but the problem can’t be solved with self-defense alone. They have started using tanks. With a small country like Armenia we can’t allow casualties at all,” Ter-Tadevosyan stressed.
