Johnny Depp tops Forbes’ most overpaid movie stars listDecember 23, 2015 - 13:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Johnny Depp's last four "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies may have grossed a total of $3.7 billion, but his other films such as "Mortdecai" have failed to perform well at the box office. The Captain Sparrow depicter has been named the most overpaid movie star in Hollywood by Forbes magazine, AceShowbiz reports. According to the magazine, Depp only returned $1.20 for every $1 he was paid. He replaced last year's most overpaid movie star Adam Sandler to top the list. Depp's position is presumably due to the financial failure of his recent movies like "Transcendence" and "The Lone Ranger". On the second position was Denzel Washington, who returned just $6.50 for each $1 he was paid. Unlike Depp, Washington's ranking is likely due to an "inflated paycheque." This is because none of his last three films appear to have lost money. Rounding out the top five were Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson and Will Smith. Ferell's most recent films returned around $6.8 for every dollar the actor was paid to star in them. Neeson returned $6.50 per every dollar he earned, followed by Smith with $8.6.
