Ghukasian: Nagorno Karabakh's Independence to Ensure Peace in South Caucasus

PanARMENIAN.Net - Democracy is a historical chance for Nagorno Karabakh, NKR President Arkady Ghukasian told reporters in Stepanakert. "If we want recognition by the international community we should build a democratic state. I am hopeful that the world will see and realize what is going on in Nagorno Karabakh," Ghukasian underscored.



He reminded of 1990-ies when the republic had no water, gas and electricity and was constantly bombed. "We are creators but not destroyers. That is why we won the war. We managed to build a state and wipe the consequences of war, to reanimate hope. I am absolutely sure that no one in Karabakh doubts this choice. Peace is the region is the independence of Nagorno Karabakh and any other way is a way to war. The international community came to understand this," he said, reports newsarmenia.ru.



December 10 Nagorno Karabakh held a universal referendum on adoption of the first-ever draft Constitution, which says that the Nagorno Karabakh Republic is a sovereign, democratic, legal and social state.
