1st footage of Disney animated movie “Moana” lands online (video) January 5, 2016 - 14:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Walt Disney Pictures has released the first footage of its upcoming animated movie "Moana", giving fans "a special look" at the new Disney princess from the South Pacific, AceShowbiz reports. The half-minute video also shares a very short footage of the princess' companion Maui as well as two new stills. "The movie tells the story of a young girl named Moana, who lives her island home to explore what's beyond the horizon," someone says in voiceover as the video shows a short footage of Moana, who is on a seashore, holding a large shell. As for the powerful demi-god Maui, he is seen spinning his body with his iconic traditional weapon on his hand. Meanwhile, the two stills show Moana and Maui, along with an adorable pig named Pua and a rainbow-colored rooster named Hei Hei, on the deck of a ship as they explore the ocean. Moana will be voiced by 14-year old actress Auli'i Cravalho, a native of Oahu, Hawaii, and Maui will be voiced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Cravalho previously mentioned that she wanted to be a singer and actress, so she will likely do her own singing in the film. According to the description released in D23 expo, "In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore." Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the animated movie is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on November 23.
