"Shameless" dark comedy series renewed for 7th season

PanARMENIAN.Net - It's another year of "Shameless". Showtime announced at the Television Critics Association's press tour on Tuesday, January 12 that the dark comedy series has been renewed for 12-episode seventh season, AceShowbiz reports.

"Shameless has clearly resonated with audiences as evidenced by their steady growth on Sunday nights over the past six years," Gary Levine, Showtime's president of programming said in a statement. "We are extremely pleased with the creative work being done by John Wells, Nancy Pimental, and the entire cast, producers and writers - and we so appreciate Shameless' clear and distinctive voice."

The good news arrived just two days after the show debuted its sixth season. The chapter picks up shortly after last year's finale where the Gallaghers prepare for another long winter in Chicago. [Spoiler Alert] The premiere episode deals with teen pregnancy as Debbie found out that she was with a child. "...we really wanted to show the point of view with Debbie that it's actually really empowering for her. It's a choice. She made this choice. She doesn't understand why people aren't on board with this choice and that she can do it. It's a strong woman's choice," EP Nancy Pimental told Variety.

"Shameless" airs Sundays at 9 P.M. ET on Showtime.
