Armenia, UK sign 2016-2017 defense cooperation plan

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the framework of cooperation between the Armenian and UK Defense Ministries, Armenian-British military-political consultations were held Thursday, January 14, with Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan heading the delegation from Yerevan.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the results of bilateral collaboration, as well as prospects of cooperation in the sector of defense for 2016-2017.

Tonoyan and Nick Gurr, the Director International Security Policy of the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom, further signed the 2016-2017 cooperation plan between Armenia and Britain.

The document includes around two dozen directions that mainly focus on military education and training, exchange of experience in various sectors, as well as consultative assistance by Britain following constitutional reforms in Armenia.

On the same day, the Armenian delegation met with Michael Tatham, the head of the Eastern Europe & Central Asia Directorate, Foreign and Commonwealth Office to discuss bilateral defense cooperation and regional security, as well as the Nagorno Karabakh peace process.
