Apple evacuates employees after Irish facilities get bomb warning

PanARMENIAN.Net - Almost 5,000 employees have been evacuated from two Apple facilities in operation in Cork, Irelalnd, after gardaí (Irish police force) received a warning that a bomb had been planted on one of its sites, The Irish Times reports.

A Garda spokesman confirmed gardaí had ordered the evacuation of both Apple’s plant at Hollyhill where around 4,000 people were working and from its center at Lavitt’s Quay, where 800 people were at work, after receiving the bomb threat.

It is understood someone posted the threat on the Garda website at 8.20am on Monday, Jan 18, and after consultation with Apple management, they began to evacuate both centers at 10am.

The spokesman said no location was specified in the bomb threat and both premises were being evacuated as a precautionary measure prior to being searched.
