“Getwell Road” women rights pioneer movie in the worksJanuary 23, 2016 - 14:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Gold Star Films is developing “Getwell Road” as a movie about Lee Ledbetter, a pioneer in the field of female pharmaceutical sales reps, Variety has learned exclusively. The company has hired writer Tiffany Romigh to write the screenplay. The story will be written as seen through eyes of Ledbetter’s son Dale Ledbetter, who was raised in Tennessee and witnessed first-hand his single mother bucking bias and personal hardship to change the male-dominated world of pharmaceutical sales in the 1950s and beyond. Joey Tufaro is producing. Ledbetter will also serve as a co-producer, alongside Gold Star partner Todd Trosclair, who will serve as executive producer. Gold Star Films’ producing credits include “Maggie,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigal Breslin; “The Power of Few,” starring Christopher Walken and Christian Slater; and the soon-to-be-released “Kidnap,” starring Halle Berry. Ledbetter chronicled his mother’s life via letters she wrote to him in “From Mother with Love.” “I’m tremendously excited to see my mom’s story come to life,” he added. “She was a pioneer in so many ways and was continually fighting for women’s rights long before it was hip to do so. My mom has had a positive influence on an untold number of lives and ‘Getwell Road’ will spread her lessons to millions more.” Romigh is the author of the novels “Elasticity” and “Deferred” in addition to the screenplays “How to Get a Guy” and “Fashionistas” for Paramount and the coming-of-age drama “In Search of Walter” for Amazon Studios.
