“Ted,” “Family Guy” scribes tackle dad comedy for Universal

PanARMENIAN.Net - Universal has acquired a comedy pitch from the co-writer of its popular Ted films, Wellesley Wild, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Wild's pitch, which he wrote with Kevin Biggins and Mike Desilets, who work on Fox's comedy series Family Guy, centers on a group of overweight dads who get a wakeup call when one of their friends has a heart attack, forcing them to abruptly change their hard-drinking and hard-eating lifestyle.

Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark will produce for their Universal-based Bluegrass Films banner while eExecutive vp of production Jon Mone will oversee the project for the studio.

Wild co-wrote both Ted and Ted 2 and executive produced with Stuber and Clark. The trash-talking teddy bear franchise has earned more than $760 million worldwide. Wild also works as an exec producer, writer and voice actor on Fox's Family Guy.

Biggins is currently a co-executive producer on Family Guy, and has previously written for Tosh.0 and The Cleveland Show. Desilets is a producer on Family Guy.
