Charlize Theron to play villain in “Fast and Furious 8”February 10, 2016 - 10:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Dominic Toretto and Co. are getting ready to take down a female antagonist in "Fast and Furious 8". As AceShowbiz reports citing Deadline, the film's director F. Gary Gray and screenwriter Chris Morgan are planning to feature "a fierce female" as a new villain and they may have found a perfect actress to play the character, Charlize Theron. Variety adds that the 40-year-old star is already in early negotiations to join the movie's cast. She recently received rave reviews for her role as Furiosa in "Mad Max: Fury Road", so it's totally understandable that Universal is eager to bring her into the fold. Should Theron board "Furious 8", she'll reunite with director Gray whom she previously worked with on 2003's "The Italian Job". She will join returning cast members including Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and Jason Statham. The eight installment in the long-running franchise is set to start filming next spring for an April 14, 2017 release in the U.S. It will be followed by the ninth and tenth films that are hitting theaters on April 19, 2019 and April 2, 2021, respectively.
