In the Armenian community of Istanbul, which has over 60 thousand people, has been declared a 15-day mourning. Hrant Dink was born in 1954 in Turkish province of Malatia. He was 7 when his parents moved to Istanbul. He has attended Armenian secondary school in Istanbul. After school Dink entered Istanbul University. Graduating first he was qualified as zoologist, and then as philosopher.
