Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles rolls out lineupFebruary 26, 2016 - 13:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles has announced its 2016 lineup of features, short films and galas, Variety reveals. The 14th annual festival, which begins April 6, opens with the premiere of “Angry Indian Goddesses.” The film takes an uncensored look at the issues facing women in contemporary Indian society while also celebrating the uniqueness, talents and flaws of its female characters. The festival closes April 10 with a screening of “Waiting.” Anu Menon’s film stars Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin in the story of a woman who finds guidance and answers in a gentle and hopeful man after her husband slips into a coma. “India’s independent filmmakers are taking bold risks, defying convention, and responding to injustice in each of these visionary films, and the results are breathtaking,” said Mike Dougherty, director of programming. “I’m extremely excited for our Los Angeles audience to experience these films, which have garnered raves from around the world, or are making their world premiere with us.” The festival runs April 6-10 at the ArcLight Hollywood in Los Angeles.
