One of the key topics of the talks was the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. The Azeri president described as useful the meetings of OSCE Minsk Group with Armenian and Azeri authorities during their last visit to the region last week. Jacques Chirac underlining the fact that one of the OSCE MG Co-Chairs is France stressed his country's efforts aimed at the solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.Besides, the two presidents exchanged views on energy projects, situation in the South Caucasus. Touching upon the "Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan" and "Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum" projects I. Aliev underscored their importance, reminding that during his visit to Brussels last November a memorandum was signed between Azerbaijan and the European Union on mutual understanding and strategic partnership in energy issues. He stressed Azerbaijan will become the first country to supply European markets with oil and gas from Caspian region.
