Armenia to host a slew of top classical musicians, orchestras

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan Perspectives International Music Festival has been hosting world famous musicians, orchestras and choirs for already 15 years now. The festival will continue its campaign this year too, with the first concert scheduled for April.

“In 2015, we organized the concert “With you, Armenia,” dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide,” Panorama.am cited the director of the festival, Sona Harutyunyan, as saying. “The first concert this year will see the Estonian National Male Choir performing a wonderful program at Yerevan’s Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral on April 24.”

According to Hovhannisyan, renowned Russian pianist Mikhail Pletnev, English violinist Nigel Kennedy, British a cappella vocal ensemble The King's Singers will for the first time perform in Armenia. The Festival has invited London Symphony Orchestra and Monteverdi Choir under the baton of prominent conductor Sir John Eliot Gardiner, as well as The Hagen Quartet from Australia, Hovhannisyan noted.

Besides, Byurakan academy in Armenia’s Aragatsotn province will host master classes by famous musicians, including baritone Vladimir Chernov, violist and conductor Yuri Bashmet, pianist Boris Berezovsky to name a few.
