Armenian soldier killed in Aleppo clashes: media

PanARMENIAN.Net - An Armenian soldier was killed in Syria's Aleppo Province on Sunday, March 20, Arevelk cited relevant sources as saying.

The soldier, Gevork Mkrtchyan was lethally wounded in battles between the Syrian government troops and the Islamic State group in the city of Sheikh Najjar.

Earlier on March 18, terrorist groups bombed the Armenian region of Nor Kyugh in Aleppo’s Bostan al-Pasha district.

An Armenian civilian, Nuard Furunchian- Asaturian, aged 61, was killed in the attacks, while several others were wounded. The first major truce in Syria's five-year civil war came into effect on February 26.

The truce does not include either the Islamic State group or al-Qaeda's branch in Syria, known as the Nusra Front.
