Armenia granted status of dialogue partner in SCO![]() April 16, 2016 - 13:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Secretary-General of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Rashid Alimov on Saturday, April 16 signed a memorandum, granting Armenia a status of dialogue partner with SCO. At the meeting with Alimov at the organization’s headquarters in Beijing, Nalbandian stressed the importance of collaboration, citing SCO as an important platform for dialogue. The document, according to Nalbandian, defines such important areas of cooperation, as promotion of regional security and stability, as well as joint efforts to fight terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime. Nalbandian further noted that the memorandum sets legal basis for establishing cooperation between Armenia and SCO member states in the sectors of trade and investment, energy and transport, and telecommunication. ![]() ![]() The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
