Sundance Film Festival’s London spinoff unveils lineupApril 21, 2016 - 13:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Sundance Film Festival’s London spinoff event has unveiled the lineup for its next edition, which runs June 2-5 at a new venue, London’s Picturehouse Central, according to Variety. The festival will present 11 U.K. and international feature film premieres direct from this year’s Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, selected by the Sundance Institute programming team in collaboration with Picturehouse. Among selected titles are Clea DuVall’s “The Intervention,” for which Melanie Lynskey won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for individual performance; Roger Ross Williams’ “Life, Animated,” winner of the directing award in the U.S. Documentary section; and Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg’s “Weiner,” winner of the U.S. Grand Jury Prize in the documentary category. The festival includes “Sundance Film Festival: Road to Stardom,” a program showcasing notable films discovered by the Sundance Film Festival over the course of its three-decade history, and whose stars and filmmakers have since achieved global recognition. The program includes four events, offering an insight into the filmmaking process: Oscar-winning producer and industry veteran James Schamus, whose feature directorial debut “Indignation” screens in the main film program, will discuss the changing face of independent film; the Sundance Film Festival partners with the British Film Institute to discuss “Diversity as an Ethos” with panelists including Sundance alumnus Effie Brown (producer of “Dear White People”); and two further events, the Short Film Masterclass, and “Cutting Through the Festival Bullshit” panel will offer frank advice to budding filmmakers.
