CSTO chief: Severity of Karabakh armed clashes isn’t moderating![]() April 28, 2016 - 13:54 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Escalation in Nagorno Karabakh isn't calming down, said the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). “A further escalation of the so-called frozen conflicts are still likely to happen,” TASS citedNikolay Bordyuzhaas saying. “Unfortunately, the severity of armed confrontation in Nagorno Karabakh isn’t declining either.” Armenia did not ask the CSTO for assistance after the recent escalation in Nagorno Karabakh, Bordyuzha said on April 26. He added that as he spoke with the top leadership of Yerevan, “he was given to understand that Armenia, by and large, hasn’t employed the greater part of its capacity, which is why no request had been made.” ![]() ![]() The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
