The meeting addressed the role of citizens in fighting corruption. “Having anti-corruption control mechanisms within a company as part of its internal procedures, policies and practices is similar to following healthy lifestyle patterns,” said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian. "The company should follow certain rules preventing dangerous habits and minimizing corruption risks.” According to Yirikian, it’s much more effective to have a timely prevention of corruption rather than start handling it when it emerges. The institutional structure of the anticorruption projects and the current problems in the sector were presented at the meeting, followed by an active discussion between the speakers and the employees of the company. Theoretical ways and practical examples of the strategic role of private sector’s participation in the fight against corruption were also addressed.
