Russell Crowe to play Dr. Jekyll-like character in “Mummy” reboot

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russell Crowe is courted for a monstrous role. The actor is reportedly in negotiations to play a Dr. Jekyll-like character. According to Variety's Justin Kroll, Tom Hardy, Eddie Redmayne and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were initially eyed for the role before the offer goes to Crowe, AceShowbiz reveals.

Crowe's role is rumored to make a cameo in "The Mummy" reboot before getting a standalone movie as a part of Universal's Monster franchise. Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis are cast for the new "Mummy" movie which is due June 9, 2017 in the United States.

Universal is also expected to revive "Phantom of the Opera" and "Creature From the Black Lagoon" for their ambitious project. On top of that, Johnny Depp is reported to help bring back The Invisible Man and Angeline Jolie is rumored for the role of Frankenstein's Bride.
