Nigeria, Cameroon pledge tougher fight against Boko Haram

PanARMENIAN.Net - Nigeria and Cameroon on Wednesday, May 3 cited with satisfaction the achievements made so far in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency and pledged to intensify efforts to rout the terrorist group from the Lake Chad basin countries, Today said.

A trust of the communiqué was issued at the end of the two-day bilateral meeting between Nigeria and Cameroon in Abuja with President Muhammadu Buhari and Cameroonian President Paul Biya in attendance.

Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama and his Cameroonian counterpart, Mbella Mbella, announced the pledge as they read the communiqué at a meeting between top officials of both countries in Abuja.

They said that both countries condemned the criminal activities perpetrated by the group in the Lake Chadbasin countries.

Reading the English version of the communiqué, Onyeama said the two countries hailed the effort of the joint military and the Multi-National Joint Task Force to end the activities of the terrorist group.

The minister added that Buhari and Biya reaffirmed their commitments to continue to support the JMNTF until the terrorist group was completely eliminated.

He said the Presidents welcomed joint discussions on the fate of suspected Boko Haram members arrested in each country.
