Azerbaijan fires from various caliber mortars towards Karabakh posts

PanARMENIAN.Net - The operative situation remained unchanged on the Nagorno Karabakh-Azerbaijani line of contact overnight on May 12-13.

Azeri troops continued violating the verbal agreement on the ceasefire in the reporting period, using various caliber firearms, 60-, 82- and 120-mm mortars, as well as grenade launchers.

The Nagorno Karabakh frontline units mainly showed restraint, taking retaliatory measures only in case of extreme necessity.

Starting at 7:30 pm, May 11, the Azerbaijani troops used various caliber firearms, mortars and grenade launchers to violate the verbal agreement on the ceasefire. The shootings continued through the night of May 12.

A Nagorno Karabakh serviceman, Armen Martirosyan (b. 1996), received a fatal wound in the May 11 Azeri shelling.

An investigation into the details of the incident is underway.
