Armenia ombudsman details Azeri hostilities in Karabakh to CoE chief

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on Thursday, May 12 met with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland in Strasbourg.

At the meeting, Tatoyan briefed the Secretary General on the gross human rights violations committed against the civilian population of Nagorno Karabakh as a result of Azerbaijani aggression in early April.

The Defender also provided specific examples of atrocities committed by Azerbaijani armed forces. He handed over to the Secretary General the report by Karabakh’s Human Rights Defender detailing the autrocities committed.

Tatoyan stressed the devastating consequences of Azerbaijani policy of hatred and violence towards people of Armenian ethnicity which endangers the Council of Europe’s human rights protection system. The Defender further noted that such policy is encouraged at state level.
