27 parties and 1 bloc submitted 'proportional' appeals to CECMarch 5, 2007 - 13:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - 1670 candidates will run for 131 seats in the Armenian parliament. 27 parties and 1 bloc represented by 1497 candidates (344 of which are women) will run by proportional system, 173 - by majority system.According to the RA legislation, parties and blocs running by majority system submitted the appeals to the CEC February 26-March 3. Parties and blocs as well as initiative groups consisting of at least 50 members have the right to nominate candidates. All essential documents should be submitted to the CEC till March 28. The registration of party lists and candidates will be accomplished April 2-7. Formally, the election campaign will last April 8-May 10. 4 more parties submitted appeals to the RA CEC on the last day. The proportional list of Orinats Yerkir party includes 131 candidates, the party members mostly. The list is headed by party chairman, ex-speaker of the RA parliament Artur Baghdassarian followed by deputy chairman Mher Shahgeldyan, MPs Heghine Bisharyan and Samvel Balasanyan as well as CEC member Artashes Avoyan. Impeachment opposition bloc has submitted a 68-candidate proportional list headed by Haykakan Zhamanak, Alternative movement member Nikol Pashinyan. He is followed by Conservative party leader Mikael Hayrapetyan and Democratic fatherland party leader Petros Makeyan, both parties serving on the bloc. Dashink party has presented a 47-member list headed by party leader, ex-Minister of NKR Defense Army Samvel Babayan. The lost also includes party's political council Liana Teryan, MP and political scientist Hmayak Hovhannisyan The list of the Armenian National Movement includes 70 people. 17 per cent of them are women. The list is headed by party board chairman Ararat Zubaryan. As it was expected Armenia's first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan is not in the list. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
