Paul McCartney to star in VR documentaryMay 26, 2016 - 14:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Paul McCartney is to appear in a documentary series made for virtual reality devices, NME reveals. The six-part series was filmed in McCartney’s private home studio as the legendary musician recounts memories and anecdotes behind various tracks. PURE McCartney VR will delve into the backstories of five of the artist’s songs: ‘Dance Tonight’, ‘Coming Up’, ‘My Valentine’, ‘Mull of Kintyre’ ‘Early Days’. The VR shoot allows fans to get a 360 view of the star’s studio either by using a headset or a dedicated online video player. The project was filmed by Tony Kaye, best known for directing American History X and numerous music videos including ’Runaway Train’ by Soul Asylum and ‘Dani California’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers. The singer has previously released a VR film of his 2014 concert at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park. McCartney is due to release a new career-spanning compilation entitled ‘Pure McCartney’ on June 10. Meanwhile, McCartney has described how he was emotionally affected by The Beatles' split in a candid new interview for BBC Radio 4’s Mastertapes series. He said: "I was depressed. You would be. You were breaking from your lifelong friends. So I took to the bevvies [drinks]. I took to a wee dram. It was great at first, then suddenly I wasn’t having a good time.” The star also spoke about working with Kanye West, fondly describing him as a "monster" that "inspires" him.
