Amazon prepping launch of digital music serviceJune 11, 2016 - 16:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Amazon is prepping the launch of a digital music service that will cost subscribers $9.99 per month, Digital Spy said citing Reuters. This new streaming platform is being eyed to launch this summer or autumn, once Amazon finishes negotiations with major record labels for top talent. Currently, Amazon Prime subscribers have the ability to stream a limited selection of songs - but a move towards a standalone digital music service could boost the company's profile. The retailer has yet to confirm or deny whether development on a streaming option is actually underway, but insiders have told Reuters that the platform is being designed to compliment Amazon's Echo home speaker. Apple Music and TIDAL have both launched over the last few years to challenge Spotify's supremacy in the streaming game, but Spotify still reigns with 30 million subscribers.
