Yerevan and Tehran discuss possibility of oil pipeline construction

PanARMENIAN.Net - The inauguration of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline is an important step towards energy security and diversification of energy resources, RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian told a news conference in IA Regnum's press center today. Elaboration of a project on construction of an oil pipeline is on the agenda, according to him. "The issue is on the agenda but it's premature to speak of its implementation. Presently we are investigating the expediency of such a project," Oskanian underscored.



The operator of the gas pipeline has not been determined yet, he added. "We will refer to the issue upon completion of the Armenian part of the pipeline. It might be Gazprom or any other enterprise," he said.



As to Armenia's intention to join the Transcaspian gas pipeline, the RA FM said that the decision should be made not by Azerbaijan but by the other states interested in Armenia's participation in the project.
