Hollywood’s first sex symbol Clara Bow biopic in the worksJuly 6, 2016 - 13:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Silver Bullet Entertainment has acquired movie rights to David Stenn’s biography “Clara Bow: Runnin’ Wild” and is developing a film on Hollywood’s first sex symbol, Variety reports. Mike Witherill of MJW Media will produce along with David Silver, principle of Silver Bullet Entertainment. Stenn will adapt the script based on his book. Production is expected to begin in the first quarter. “The Clara Bow story is one of the most intriguing stories in all of Hollywood,” Silver said. “She was an amazing actress and overcame countless obstacles in her rise to stardom. We have wanted to do this project for a long time.” Bow was born in the slums of Brooklyn into a family plagued with alcoholism and insanity. She became famous after winning Motion Picture magazine’s 1921 “Fame and Fortune” contest, and her performance as a shopgirl in the 1927 silent film “It” brought her global fame and the nickname “The It Girl.” Bow appeared in 46 silent films and 11 talkies, including “Wings” and “Mantrap.” She retired from acting in 1931 after marrying actor Rex Bell. Bow died in 1965 at the age of 60. Bow was one of prime symbols of the Roaring Twenties. Her image encouraged young women to choose a life for themselves instead of what was expected of them. Witherill’s credits include “John Wick” and “Drinking Buddies.” Lee Keele of the Gersh Agency represents Stenn and negotiated the deal.
