Switzerland ready to act as mediator between Armenia, Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Switzerland is ready to play a mediating role by inviting delegations of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) to discuss prospects of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, the head of the Swiss delegation to the OSCE PA said.

"We all are very concerned about a possible escalation of the conflict,” Filippo Lombardi said.

“Our position is that both countries, both peoples, presidents of both Armenia and Azerbaijan need to meet and try to come to a new dialogue in order to overcome this impasse.”

"We can also involve the Georgian delegation,” he added.

“Switzerland wants to play a mediating role but does not intend to compel sides to peace.”
