Lawyer to appeal to ECHR on Sasna Tsrer member case

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s court of criminal appeals declined a complaint about the arrest of the injured member of Sasna Tsrer armed group, Hovhannes Harutyunyan, lawyer Ara Karagyozyan said.

The court hearing dealing with the complaint took place on August 9, headed by the judge of the court of criminal appeals Alexander Azaryan. Harutyunyan, who was brought to the court on a stretcher, was present as well.

“Everyone could see Hovhannes was in pain. Everyone, even the judge, was agitated over his state. But eventually the judge passed the decision he did. We placed great hopes on him, yet our expectations weren’t justified,” the lawyer said, according to Panorama.am.

As the lawyer stressed in conclusion, an appeal on Harutyunyan’s case will be filed with the European Court of Human Rights.
