Apple “looking to get in on the health-tracking game”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Though Apple's main focus will be on launching the upcoming iPhone, refreshed MacBook Pro and Apple Watch 2, reports earlier this week suggested the company could also make a move into the fitness tracker market, Digital Spy reports.

Now, more evidence has surfaced that indicates a health-related wearable is on the horizon.

A recently published patent application suggests that the Cupertino giant plans to lock down a new wearable health device that can be fashioned into different accessories. Judging from Apple's sketches it could, for example, be a watch, a ring or a brooch, Digital Spy said.

According to Patently Apple, the device is capable of performing an electrocardiogram (ECG) - a test that measures the heart's rhythm. This corroborates the whispers from Economic Daily News that the potential device could track heart rates and blood sugar changes.

While heart-tracking tech usually differs depending on how far away the device is from the heart, the patent suggests Apple will look to introduce a product which can calculate accurate readings no matter where it sits on your body.

As with all patents, this doesn't mean the product will ever actually see a production line. However, the evidence is piling up that the company is at least strongly considering making a foray into the health wearable game, Digital Spy said.
