Armenian man dies in Aleppo shelling

PanARMENIAN.Net - Aleppo resident Sargis Kuyumjyan injured in the shelling of the Syrian city died in a hospital.

According to local Armenian paper Kantsasar, Kuyumjyan was wounded as shells hit the Armenian district of Nor Kyugh.

He was later taken to the hospital, with his condition assessed as serious.

Before the outbreak of a war in Syria, the country was home to over 80 thousand Armenians, descendants of the 1915 Genocide survivors. According to various data, currently around 6-8 thousand Armenians reside in Aleppo, and 4-5 thousand more in other regions of Syria.
