“Blade Runner” sequel casting wraps; Jared Leto is on board

PanARMENIAN.Net - Oscar winner and "Suicide Squad" Joker Jared Leto rounds out the cast of the still-untitled sequel to “Blade Runner”. As has been the case with most casting announcements for the film, there are no details on his role, Deadline reports.

Leto joins a cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Lennie James and Dave Bautista. Denis Villeneuve is directing the Alcon Entertainment pic, whose story picks up several decades after the conclusion of Ridley Scott’s 1982 original. Warner Bros will open the film October 6, 2017. Sony has overseas rights.

“30 Seconds to Mars” frontman Leto stars as the villainous Joker in Suicide Squad, alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie and others, and won his Oscars — and scads of other honors — for his supporting role in 2013’s “Dallas Buyers Club.” His earlier film credits include “Mr. Nobody,” “Alexander” and “Panic Room.”
