200 Armenian schoolchildren trapped in Aleppo: Minister of Diaspora![]() August 30, 2016 - 12:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan on Monday, August 29 called for better efforts in helping Syrian-Armenians trapped in Aleppo, adding that there are six Armenian colleges and around 200 schoolchildren in the Syrian city. At a session of the interdepartmental commission coordinating issues of Syrian-Armenians, Hakobyan stressed the importance of various agencies in helping alleviate the burden that the civil war-struck Armenians face in Syria. “For now, we only manage to solve educational problems,” she said. “We should organize aid activities so that people who decide to settle in Armenia, can integrate easily. I am confident that if every major organization built a house for Syrian Armenians, much would be achieved in a short period of time.” According to the Minister, Armenians are relocating to Latakia and Kessab. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan.
