France-based ophthalmologists carry out charity project in ArmeniaAugust 30, 2016 - 13:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Members of the French-Armenian Medical Union (UMAF) visit Armenia twice a year for an exchange of experience and other medicine-related activities. First arriving in Armenia in May, the physicians convey secrets of pediatric vision screening to doctors working in rural schools. The second visit happens in September when France-based Armenian doctors bring optical lenses and ophthalmic equipment to check children's vision and provide them with glasses if necessary.
This year, the UMAF doctors worked in various villages across Armenia’s Syunik province and the city of Sisian. The head of the UMAF delegation, Levon Artinyan said: “We have been coming to Armenia for 13 years now to contribute to the protection of our children’s health. We have decided to implement the project in villages as there is more need for doctors and equipment in rural areas. We are now using our holiday breaks to visit Armenia. With the support of ACBA Credit Agricole Bank, we have brought a large amount of equipment. We thought people would like to help us in Armenia and turned to our old friend ACBA which we have been cooperating with for 20 years now. Without much deliberation the bank assisted us in implementing the project.
In the framework of the initiative, the French-Armenian doctors have examined more than 500 children this year.
