“Your Name” animation tops Japan box office for 2nd weekendSeptember 6, 2016 - 14:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - “Your Name”, Shinkai Makoto’s animation about two teens who switch bodies and genders in their dreams, led the Japanese box office for the second weekend. For the Sept. 3-4 frame the film earned $11.2 million on 867,000 admissions with Toho distributing, Variety reports. This was nearly 25% better than the film’s opening weekend take. In its first ten days on release it has run its cumulative total to $36.7 million on 2.9 million admissions. Rising back to the number two spot was Toho’s “Shin Godzilla,” which has topped the $51 million mark after 31 days on release, making it the highest earning Japanese live-action film of the year. For the weekend it recorded $3.1 million admissions. “The Secret Lives of Pets” slipped to number three with $1.9 million. In its first 25 days on release, the Toho-Towa film neared the $34 million mark. Highest ranking among the new entries was heist film “Now You See Me 2.” Distributed by Kadokawa on 245 screens, the film garnered $1.16 million for sixth place.
