Chase Novak horror novel “Breed” to get film treatment at FoxSeptember 20, 2016 - 15:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Karyn Kusama will direct Fox’s upcoming horror movie “Breed”, based on the Chase Novak novel of the same name, Variety reports. Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi are producing and writing the adaptation, and Scott Frank is producing for Fox under his new production deal with the studio. The project re-unites Kusama, Hay, and Manfredi after the trio teamed worked on the thriller “The Invitation,” starring Logan Marshall-Green and Tammy Blanchard, earlier this year. Chase Novak is the pen name for Scott Spencer, who also wrote “Endless Love” and “Waking the Dead.” “Breed” follows a wealthy New York couple who turns to a controversial Eastern European fertility clinic to conceive when all conventional methods fail. Ten years later, the nightmarish side effects of the procedure begin to manifest. “Breed” will be Frank’s first project under his 20th Century Fox production deal, setting the stage for a slate of adult genre films in the middle budget range of $20 million to $30 million. “‘Breed’ was the first piece of material I acquired and was a complete no-brainer — falling right into the sweet spot of the work that I’m trying to do in my partnership with Fox,” Frank said. “The fact that I also get to collaborate with the talented likes of Phil, Matt, and Karyn only makes an already exciting project even sweeter.” Kusama’s directing credits include “Girlfight,” “Aeon Flux,” and “Jennifer’s Body.” Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
