I voted for Armenia's future: Kocharian

PanARMENIAN.Net - "I have voted for Armenia's future, for continuation of economic and social reforms. I am convinced that everything will be all right," Armenian President Robert Kocharian said after voting. When asked whom he voted for, the President said, "Do you ask this to put me in an awkward position and then subject to criticism?"

He did not name the opposition parties he would like to see in the parliament. "Opposition forces but not foreign representations in the shape of various factions should be represented in the parliament," the President said.

The outcomes of the parliamentary election will not predetermine the presidential one, the RA leader said. "The Armenian legislation entitles all wishing contenders to run for President. It's quite another matter that the party which garnered majority of votes will start form a higher position and a politician who enjoys support of the parliament will become a real figure and real leader of the state. We will have a strong President if he is supported by the parliamentary majority. Otherwise, he will be just a nominal figure," Robert Kocharian said.

When asked about possible destabilization the RA President said he doesn't see any reasons for it. The election process and the voting proceed in a quiet atmosphere, according to him.

"There are some representatives of radical opposition in Armenia who have an odd habit to repeat their mistakes. It's hard work to comment on such habits," he added.
