Argentina selects “The Distinguished Citizen” for foreign Oscars race October 1, 2016 - 15:41 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Argentina selected Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat's The Distinguished Citizen as its submission for both the Foreign-Language category at the Oscars and the Spanish Goya awards' best Ibero-American film slate, the Argentine Academy announced on Thursday, September 29, according to The Hollywood Reporter. An acid dramatic comedy about a Nobel Prize winning writer who returns to his small hometown in Argentina after living 40 years abroad, the sixth film by Cohn and Duprat (The Man Next Door) premiered in Venice, where it won a best actor award for its lead Oscar Martinez (Paulina). Martinez was also the star of one of the six episodes in Argentina's latest Oscar nom Wild Tales (2014), the country's seventh nominee in a list that includes Oscar winners The Official Story (1985) and The Secret In Their Eyes (2010).
