Emily Mortimer joins Disney's "Mary Poppins Returns"October 7, 2016 - 12:10 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Emily Mortimer has signed on to join the cast of Disney's "Mary Poppins Returns". Variety has reported that the British actress will share screen with Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda in the sequel to 1964's "Mary Poppins", AceShowbiz reports. Mortimer will portray the now-grown Jane Banks, who was one of the children Mary Poppins looked after in the original fantasy flick. Meanwhile, the grown-up version of Jane Banks' brother Michael is set to be played by Ben Whishaw. Blunt is already on board to portray the titular character, while "Hamilton" star Miranda will play a new character, a street lamplighter named Jack. Rob Marshall will direct "Mary Poppins Returns" from a screenplay provided by Oscar nominee David Magee ("Life of Pi"). The movie is scheduled to be released on December 25, 2018 in U.S. theaters. Set in Depression-era London, the sequel follows a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, who along with Michael's three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Mortimer has appeared on two HBO shows, "The Newsroom" and "Doll & Em". The 44-year-old actress can next be seen in CBS Films' "The Sense of an Ending" alongside Michelle Dockery and in Legendary's "Spectral".
