New CSTO chief to be appointed in late 2016: Armenia President![]() October 15, 2016 - 11:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The issue of appointing a new Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has been removed from the agenda, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said Friday, October 14. "We'll get back to the matter in late 2016 in Russia," Sargsyan said. A session of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held at the Armenian Presidential Palace on Friday, with the participation of the Russian, Belarusian, Kyrgyz, Tajik Presidents, the Kazakh Prime Minister, and the CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordzyuzha. The session was presided over by Sargsyan. Armenia chaired the Council at 2015-2016 sessions. It was earlier reported that the new CSTO chief will be a representative of Armenia. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
