UNHCR pledges to help Syrian refugees reaching Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Armenia Christoph Bierwirth said Monday, October 17 the organization is ready to assist Syrian-Armenians.

The official discussed the issue with Armenian human rights defender Arman Tatoyan who had previously applied to global human rights organizations to draw attention to the matter.

At the meeting, the two discussed problems that Syrian refugees face after reaching Armenia, namely the matter of providing them with living conditions, the Ombudsman's office said.

Also, they dwelled upon the financial assistance by the UNHCR to the new flows of migrants to the country.

Bierwirth expressed readiness to help the Syrian-Armenians as much as possible.
