Peter Sarsgaard to co-star with Javier Bardem in “Escobar”October 19, 2016 - 18:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Following roles in “The Magnificent Seven” and “Jackie,” Peter Sarsgaard is looking to add to his already busy 2016 by starring opposite Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz in the Pablo Escobar pic “Escobar”, Variety reports. Fernando Leon De Aranoa is writing and directing the movie with Dean Nichols, Christa Campbell, Ed Cathell, and Lati Grobman producing. The film is based on the true story of the notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, who killed thousands, made billions, and struck up an unlikely love affair with his polar opposite, a glamorous television host named Virginia Vallejo. Sarsgaard will play Neymar, a DEA agent on the hunt to bring down Escobar. Production begins next month. Sarsgaard had two films — “The Magnificent Seven” and “Jackie” — premiere at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this year. “The Magnificent Seven” has already grossed $148 million worldwide including $85 million domestically. “Jackie” bows on Dec. 2. Sarsgaard has garnered critical praise for his portrayal of Robert Kennedy in the film, which is being positioned for an awards push.
